Arshdeep Singh prone to make debut in IND vs ENG fifth Take a look at

India cricket team are reportedly likely to hand Arshdeep Singh his debut in the IND vs ENG 5th Test at the Oval in London. The pacer was ruled out of the previous tie after he sustained a blow to his hand during practice before the Manchester Test. Arshdeep received his maiden call-up to the Test squad for the IND vs ENG series but has warmed the bench for 4 games so far.

Arshdeep to make Test debut at The Oval?

As per Times of India, the Indian team is likely to hand Arshdeep his debut in the IND vs ENG 5th Test. The report states that the southpaw bowled in full tilt in the nets after recovering from a hand injury that forced him to get ten stitches on his hand. The report states that while Arshdeep was in the team management’s plans for the last two Tests, he missed out on the 4th Test in Manchester due to the unfortunate injury.

“Playing red-ball cricket for the country is the ultimate dream of any cricketer. The same is with Arshdeep. Wo pak chuka hai (He is ripe now). He should get a chance to play with the red ball. He can bring the balance that India has been looking for so long,” Arshdeep’s childhood coach Jaswant Rai told the pulication.

The report claims that Akash Deep and Mohammed Siraj could be the other two pacers. As per the report, a call on Jasprit Bumrah’s availability for the IND vs ENG 5th Test could be taken in the last-minute. Bumrah has already taken part in 3 Tests as a part of his workload management in the ongoing series.

Despite delivering sizzling peformances in white-ball formats, Arshdeep did not recieve a Test call-up before the England series. One of the main reasons was that he was not experienced enough in red-ball cricket.

“He has patiently done the hard yards, and I might sound biased, but he deserves the Test cap. If not in England, then where? With his incredible skill to swing the ball both ways and his dexterity to hit the 6m length consistently, Arshdeep Singh is arguably the best of his type India has had since Zaheer Khan,” the coach added.
