These had been the congratulatory phrases of European Ryder Cup captain Luke Donald, who was calling Rasmus Hojgaard simply moments after the 24-year-old Dane locked up considered one of six computerized spots on Donald’s crew that can compete Sept. 26-28 at Bethpage Black.
By not qualifying for this week’s Tour Championship at East Lake, it afforded Hojgaard the prospect to tee it up within the DP World Tour’s Betfred British Masters. He entered the week needing a two-way tie for 29th to earn sufficient factors to leapfrog Shane Lowry for sixth in factors.
And following a 1-under 71 on Sunday, Hojgaard completed his purpose with a number of photographs to spare, tying for thirteenth.
“I don’t know what to really feel,” Hojgaard informed reporters afterward. “I’ve been so wired on the course immediately. I used to be telling my caddie, I don’t understand how I’m going to have the ability to do that.
“I’m over the moon proper now.”
Hojgaard, who will make his Ryder Cup debut two years after his twin brother, Nicolai, did the identical in Rome, joined fellow computerized qualifiers Rory McIlroy, Robert MacIntyre, Justin Rose, Tommy Fleetwood and Tyrrell Hatton.
Rasmus Hojgaard was a buggy driver in Rome in 2023.
Six captain’s picks are deliberate for Sept. 1, with Lowry, Jon Rahm, Viktor Hovland, Ludvig Åberg, Sepp Straka and Matt Fitzpatrick (T-6 at British Masters) among the many favorites to say these.
Alex Noren gained the British Masters, making a 7-foot bogey putt on the final to complete one away from Nicolai Hojgaard and Kazuma Kobori. It was Noren’s first DP World Tour victory in seven years.
