Winner of charity horse race at Goodwood celebrates ‘greatest day’

Sophie Forsyth was amongst 12 ladies to compete within the Markel Magnolia Cup at Goodwood Racecourse in Chichester, West Sussex, on Thursday.

Ms Forsyth mentioned: “It’s unbelievable. I’ve dreamed of this.”

She added: “I’m 29, and I flip 30 in August, however that is the perfect day of my life.

Coach Ed de Giles, who provided Woodcote Lady – the horse ridden by the race winner at Qatar Goodwood Competition – mentioned Ms Forsyth rode him “brilliantly”.

The opposite beginner riders included a police officer, an artist, a social media influencer and Lois Logan, an up-and-coming present jumper and daughter of TV host Gabby Logan and former rugby participant Kenny Logan.

Ms Logan, who was unplaced on Spirit of Ecstasy, mentioned: “It was over so shortly and such a thrill. The horse was unbelievable and put up such a battle towards robust opposition.”

Her mom, Gabby Logan, added: “It’s over so fast and like being a sprinter. However all these 4:40am begins and the months of bodily coaching have been price it.

“It’s such a unique model of driving to what she has grown up doing. She has beloved it.”

The Magnolia Cup has raised greater than £2.7m since its inception in 2011.

This 12 months’s proceeds will go to Venture Lehar, an initiative that gives vocational coaching, entrepreneurship and life expertise programs for ladies and younger ladies from low-income backgrounds within the Indian states of Bihar and Uttar Pradesh.
